My husband and I, when dating, would take turns. Or if I didn't eat all my food, I'd offer to pay out of guilt lol. But now our money is each other's so it doesn't matter.

I really thought they were going to go from guys paying for 1st date ("Yes", "If they asked", "50/50", "Cuz then you owe something") to Socialism. "If the govt pays for all your stuff, what would you owe it in return?"

Men should always request to pay, but should honor a woman's request if she asks to go dutch on the first date until you both see how you feel about each other. I think this is a good way to balance the need for chivalry and a woman's need for some control if she needs it.

That doesn't really make sense to me. It seems more respectful to just follow the "whoever asked" rule: if a woman asks a man out on a date, the woman should offer to pay.
