To add. The Dutch went to war with the Spanish with the 1581
#ActofAbjuration (@geertenwaling) which later inspired Thomas Jefferson with the American#DeclarationofIndependence https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Act_of_Abjuration …Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Point to note: There will no Europe or America if there was no crusade by the Roman Catholic Church.

This show on Nat Geo, rolling back the water w/animation on 1588 armada wrecks, including the famous Mary Rose, documents how the Brits took the Spanish shipbuilding tech to change the power structure of Europe. Totally fascinating!https://trakt.tv/shows/drain-the-oceans/seasons/2/episodes/7 …

It is the date of one of the greatest tragedies of history, the date of the failure of Spain to rescue England from the tyranny of Bloody Bess. (Mary, btw, could not be "rebellious" toward Bess, since she was an independent sovereign and not her subject.)

You are a disgrace as a historian. Spain was the first power of the World until well advanced the XIX century, being 65% of the current US territory a part of the Spanish Empire. Spain defeated England in many battles after the Armada’s fiasco. Pointless and ridiculous analysis.

Please explain how English common law & philosophies foundational to our society's expression of liberty would've been transmitted to colonies not yet established by Englishmen via Spanish settlement of America, & how recognizing this makes one a poor historian?
