One hand of the Fed gov (IRS or something like it) collects the taxes. Another hand (Medicare) distributes the program money. Your contribution in taxes do not determine what you receive. If you contributed all your life and they decide you don't get it, you don't.

Free open market allowing individuals to shop and tailor their healthcare needs would dramatically reduce cost and make it more affordable for everyone. IMO
