Personally, I wouldn’t like to live in either. The rampant ‘free-markets’ (South Korean economy has loads of conglomerate monopolies) has lead to harsh levels of individualism, and so a decline in religiosity, decline in Confucius ideals of family and community -

... which in turn has lead to a decline in Confucius ideals of family and community - elderly relatives being abandoned - and South Korea has one of the highest suicide rates in the world. Capitalism may be great - but it definitely has strings attached.
