But things have been made worse by fostering a culture of systemic, generational dependence upon government. Not only are poor people still poor, they have lost in many cases the sense of self-reliance and hope which could pull them out of poverty.

And we as a society have lost the sense of responsibility for our fellow man (read all persons, not merely makes). We have been lulled into thinking it’s not our job to help because the government will do it.

Question is whose pockets did that $20 Trillion actually go into? Not the poor but the govt bureaucrats. That is the problem with a big over-sized govt, it becomes very corrupt from within.
