If IDs were given out free and fairly with no financial pressure to replace vital documents, sure. This isn't the case. Furthermore, there are instances like Alabama requiring IDs to vote, the closing DMVs in majority black counties.

We need ID to vote in Australia. Nobody complains, everyone votes, enjoys the food stalls after the polling booth, democracy rolls on.

Considering the remoteness of some places in Australia, I'm guessing the required ID cannot only be acquired in Canberra during work days between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. at exactly one office, hm?

Is nationwide voter ID better for fighting election fraud than streamlining vote opportunities to only be available on election days?

How about every highschool student upon receiving their diploma gets automatically registered to vote incuding a voucher to get a government id issued

I like this idea but all citizens have a right to vote, even if they don’t graduate from HS. In addition, I believe the ID issue hurts the older populations more than the younger ones. Your idea should be streamlined to ‘all citizens automatically get a photo ID’.

Yes, you need an ID to vote. Seems as if the technology would be there to record fingerprint, facial recognition, etc when you register to vote then verify when you vote.

And yet in the majority of states, a person can purchase a gun from an unlicensed dealer w/o a photo ID. If the right to buy a gun w/o an ID is a fundamental right, so too is voting.
