The confederacy was left-wing? Didn't they oppose big government and support state rights? So Robert E Lee, Andrew Jackson were "on the left"? So, the southern states were all left-wing, and Republicans actually support the government intervening in the economy?

I just had to argue about this with someone because they said "well the parties switched way back when" .....mmm noo they actually didn't they used to be one party fighting federalist and split when the topic of slavery came up with Adam's and Jackson election.
