Liberty and abolition of slavery was a republican movement. But the centre left are typically Capitalist but in favour of fighting corrupted Capitalism. which the right can often overlook The extreme left though, yeah that's gone to a strange place!

Fun fact, the republicans in the 1800s were actually the more progressive party. It was only after the 1960s that republicans became the Conservative party

That’s over the top. The reasonable left and the reasonable right need continuous dialogue to move forward properly. The totalitarian left as well as the totalitarian right are forces of destruction, millions slaughtered in the 20th century as evidence.

The obvious answer is to carve a chunk of territory out the Middle East considered by the Kurds as 'home' and have them vote on statehood.
