No. It doesn’t. I was once unemployed and on food stamps and Medicaid for my family of six. Without it, we would have been desperate. Today I have my Ph.D and a great job. The safety net helps desperate families get back on their feet.

This point is totally disingenuous. It dishonestly gives the impression recipients are living it up at taxpayers’ expense while omitting the fact that the monthly allowance is nowhere near enough to do so. That it is allowable to buy lobster doesn’t mean there’s enough to do so.

Things you can also buy with food stamps: Bread Vegetables Meat Nappies Milk Canned vegetables Pasta Rice Canned soups What is the incentive to be so in need you require food stamps in the first place? Giving a hand up to people in need is a very Christian thing to do.

You can’t buy nappies in food stamps. The food part can only buy food and no prepared food. It’s not enough to splurge.

I had 6 kids. I had to go back to school because my husband walked out and refused to help. I had to get state assistance. There were no extras none! 7 of us 3 bedroom apt. I took the bus because I couldn’t afford a car. We ate beans and rice, powdered milk and veggie. Splurge???
