Private health care puts the decisions into the hands of unaccountable private individuals who are motivated to exploit you for profit. I'd stick with the elected bureaucrats with better motivations if I were you.

There is a difference between single payer (socialized insurance) and socialized medicine(The NHS). Both are preferable to the rationing we experience and the ridiculous overhead we deal with in such a fragmented system. Also, most medical research is publicly funded.

With single payer we would save billions every year by decreasing the amount of paperwork required for hospitals dealing with the arbitrary rules of many different insurance companies.

Cause our government is sooo efficient, responsible, and good stewards of our money, etc. Just look at our failing USPS, social programs running out of money, and our childish disrespectful 'resist' legislators. Yeah right, I'll take care of my own....
