Despite the misinformed claims by some of the religious, America is not a Christian nation and Jesus does not belong in public schools. We not only a secular society, but we live in a post-Christian era. The bible is still believed mostly by those not very well educated.

If it is a public school, then that is appropriate and has been a rule for many years (not to sing religious songs as part of a public school event)
