I wouldn't worry too much about letting girls learn the same skills/morality as the boys - frankly, I gave up on any organization teaching my children morality -
@boyscouts got out of that business years ago - We teach our own children what is right and wrong

It would help to understand the Boy Scouts rationale. It's to allow families to participate. No troop is forced to allow girls. It's a local choice.

Actually, girls have to join separated troops. So it's not even a co-ed troop set up.
