I'm leaving an empty bowl on my doorstep with a sign that says, "If you support socialism, please deposit 90% of your candy here."

No the best way to teach them is to be responsible. Take history & civics courses to learn what their taxes pay for and it is their civic duty. Not just theirs but for all Americans, including the freeloading rich who pay nothing.

Why stop there. Make your kids trick-or-treat for an hour and then distribute all the candy evenly between them and the rest of the kids on the block to teach them about socialism.
-
That’s not how socialism works though, a socialist candy utopia would be all the kids on the block putting some of their candy in a bowl so that the kids who weren’t able to trick-or-treat for many reasons can all have some, but hey let’s not be decent people right??
