staff are striking because they’ve being treated appallingly. ’s comments show: 🅰️ How far removed Tories are from the tragic reality workers face. 🅱️ Their utter contempt for working people exercising their essential right to strike for fair treatment.

“We must ensure such a tragedy never happens again. We, in Parliament, must do all we can to help them.” Theresa May just voted against implementing the Grenfell Inquiry recommendations. Never trust a Tory.

After the fiasco of this year’s exam results, the Government must make sure young people are rewarded for their achievements next summer. The have launched a petition here 👉

We cannot let them duck accountability and scrutiny. Other demands we must make: 👉 BTEC results to be teacher assessed too 👉 All NHS staff given a 15% pay rise 👉 NHS hospital staff park for free at work 👉 Eviction ban to stay in place 👉 DWP sanctions not reimposed

So many of the “good” decisions the government have made during the crisis have only come about due to public pressure. And as we recover from the pandemic, the “tough decisions” they’re “forced” to take will always disproportionately disadvantage the most vulnerable amongst us.

Yesterday’s u-turn re exam results is testament to the collective resistance, protest and pressure from students, teachers and other activists. But it shouldn’t need us to take to the streets and launch petitions for our government to sit up, listen and do the right thing.

Dido Harding, a Tory peer with no public health experience, who presided over the (privately outsourced) Test & Trace debacle, is to be installed as boss of the agency replacing Public Health England. This shows utter contempt for the NHS & public health.

This week the government has effectively taught 16-18 year olds two things: 1) The government acts to maintain a system of class divide; meritocracy is a myth 2) Collective action and protest gets results

Like so many other decisions, the Tories have only caved on their exam results approach due to public pressure. We must continue to hold them to account as they make so-called “tough decisions”(which, as always, will disproportionately impact the poor & vulnerable across society)

Lowering the grades of working class a-level students and then charging them over £100 to appeal each grade is absolutely sinister

Students should receive the grades they deserve; not suffer under a postcode lottery. It’s no coincidence A-level results improved in elite private schools, whilst the general population were downgraded by 40%. We must continue to call out the Tories classist actions.

The UK announces the worst COVID death toll and the deepest recession across Europe. The Tories deflect blame with xenophobic hate campaign against migrants and refugees. Tale as old as time.

The hateful scapegoating of migrants by the media & Tories is vile. Let’s be clear: migrants fleeing danger are not to blame for destroying our public services & forcing nurses to use food banks and protest for pay rises - the Tories are. We must continue to reject these lies.

NHS staff are absolutely brilliant but have suffered a pay freeze, under-funding and under-staffing. Now it’s time to pay them properly, guarantee secure jobs and end privatisation. My support to all of our wonderful NHS workers protesting for a pay rise today.
