We need to standardize the "add to home screen" thing. We have 2 options: an install API or pure HTML. Thoughts? pic.twitter.com/lBD7zNkTGn

@marcosc It should be a bookmark. Mobile bookmark = add to home screen. (Idea by @brucel , not by me)

@ppk @marcosc I like the idea of some explicit install action, if only so we can talk about extended permissions. Maybe just me! +@brucel

@aerotwist You have a point about permissions. Can't think of a good way to do that right away. /cc @marcosc @brucel

@ppk @aerotwist @marcosc @brucel Hm... Why do we need to handle permissions differently when running from HS vs in browser?

@jonathanstark We don't necessarily have to handle them differently.

@ppk K. I thought y'all might've been suggesting HS webapps would have diffnt capabilities (ala PhoneGap) that wud require special handling

@jonathanstark It's possible that that may be the case; for instance with some device APIs. Right now I just don't know.

@ppk Gotcha. Well, assuming same permission options on HS and in browser, I don't see why you'd reinvent the confirmation UI.

@jonathanstark I'm not sure it needs reinventing, but I'm afraid it takes too much space when a web app requires 5 or 7 permissions.

@ppk @marcosc @brucel But I don't want all of my bookmarks on my home screen. Perhaps a 'featured' folder of bookmarks, like bookmarks bar

@ShaneHudson Well, you can drag icons to folders once they're created, right?

@ppk Oh sure but I mean I could have thousands of bookmarks and a folder within bookmarks for the 5 I want on my home screen
