RMS was pretty far left before "the left" jumped the shark. Don't make the mistake of using "the left" as a synonym for "good". Anti-left is a very good thing in 2019, IMHO, even if it was a bad thing as recently as 2009.
Because the left went stark raving mad over the last 10 years or so. They're no longer interested in free speech, in "colour-blindness" (non-racialism, not literal blindness) or even the presumption of innocence. Just 3 off the top of my head.
