A little breaking news from #canada. I just got off the phone with Canada’s Immigration Minister Ahmed Hussen @HonAhmedHussen . He told me about the 600 slaves from Libya that Canada has or is in the process of rescuing and bringing to the country as refugees.1/8

As far as I can tell, Canada is now leading the Western world on human rights. Proud to be your neighbor.

Most of us have always thought of ourselves as a "kinder, gentler" nation. Guess we're now a position to prove that!

Canada is providing haven to slaves and the slavers. Getting it half right doesn’t work.

All go through the same vetting processes. Police security health etc. Much harder with refugees but still vetted. And as our current Minister of Immigration shows, can do well and aim for the highest of positions here. God I love this country.

Homelessness is a big economic issue. Tried to help study root causes with basic income pilot in Ontario and in Winnipeg before. But both times study was shut down by incoming conservative gvts. You need good data to form good policies.
