Also - Toronto is probably the most recognizable-as-Canadian city for your readership...something tells me reporting from Regina wouldn’t have the same ring to it...or Kamloops...though they’d probably chuckle at the names.
We will be reporting from Montreal and Halifax also tomorrow. Not just Toronto. Oh, and Ottawa too for the politics of it all... And my colleague @DanBilefsky was in Vancouver all week reporting from there on this.

Incorrect. 20% of BC has smoked weed, 23% of Nova Scotia. Halifax is the weed capital of Canada.

Newfoundland will be the first to sell it legally in Canada and has a couple dozen shops. That would have been a good choice of places to go and write this story.

You could have gone to Edmonton or Calgary where there will be plenty of legal stores open on legalization day and where it is looking like the legal industry will be setting up their HQ. The more interesting stories are in the West.

It will be illegal to smoke drugs if you walk down the street in Halifax. Private homes only. Smoking and vaping in public is illegal, including drugs. Pothead losers will be fined.
