@TheCocoaNaut which app version ate you on? Slack 2.3 is much better.

2.2.1 because that's the only version I see on their website. What hoops do I have to jump through to get the non-shit version?pic.twitter.com/xAPPEc5YzJ

I thought they have released 2.3 final already. Just search for “Slack beta”.

thanks

maybe its your problem that can't afford much memory, RAMs are cheap!
-
Maybe I can afford plenty of RAM (I have 16GB) and don't want to waste it on a chat client.

@BeardOps are you using the beta version? On Mac, I switched and it's a much better future. -
Not sure what version I'm using. I will take a look though, thanks!

I use weechat. I've joined about 5 channels, proxied to my mobile phone. How do you manage to read over 100 channels?

-
I don't read all of all of them, and have judicious use of hilights and irssi notifier.

25MB for text only? The past wasn't so hot either ;-)
-
100 channels with thousands of of lines of backscroll in RAM. Yes, terrible :)

: Somehow I have to cite your
#slack vs#irssi tweet and https://xkcd.com/1782/ rather often. (Of course I'm using irssi and#screen) -
Sadly it's the most popular tweet I've ever posted :S
-
: *nod* You've definitely hit a nerve with it.

All these GUIs suck up so many resources. We should probably all switch back to DOS and *nix.

Pffft. Got a good twitter client for CP/M?
