According to data compiled by Total Aquatics Programming, at this point last year there were 178 media reported fatal child pool/spa drownings. This year, there were 159 fatal child pool/spa drownings - a decrease of 11%.
Fatal child pool and spa drownings are down 11% this year.

It’s time to turn back the clocks, but that doesn’t mean you can turn your back on kids in the pool. Always have an adult assigned to watch children in the water to help keep them safer.

Remember: Drownings don’t look like they do in the movies with somebody splashing and screaming for help – they are quick & silent.
