"Sometimes those who insist on consent for themselves will not respect it in the other direction" is, I'd argue, a very valuable lesson. And learning it from the only non-pointy end of a cat is probably less expensive than most other alternatives.

Cats are all about their consent, and not at all about yours

But arguably, they still teach the lesson well. For example, my roommate had a cat who couldn't stand to be pet by anyone but her. I briefly went out w/a guy who kept trying to pet the cat anyway. I had to really firmly snap at him to be more respectful. It was ridiculous.

That's actually a fair example. It corresponds to "No matter how little clothing she has on or what body part is right in front of you, you STILL don't touch without consent." Right out of the "cosplay is not consent" category.

yes, that’s not wrong, but also if this hypothetical cosplayer literally shoved her butt against your face on purpose, she’d also be crossing consent boundaries herself, which i think is the joke OP was making
