Large companies with their own software stacks have a long history of letting business concerns from across the corporation interfere with activities on the other end. The Linux foundation is not concerned this might happen again here; I am, regardless of "statements of intent".
The problem is that statements of intent, no matter how much we like to believe them, are not binding contracts or anything remotely similar. Therefore, there is no telling what might happen and you have to *trust* them. MS has *not* earned my trust in any way, shape or form.
Given the over 8.100 likes and 4.600 retweets for my original tweet (so far), you seem to be in a scant minority :-)
