  1. attended at SRUC Edinburgh today to educate agricultural students on the rules when using agricultural vehicles on the road. Officers also took the opportunity to explain the newly rolled out drug screening devices and the consequences of providing a positive result.

  3. TYRES. How often do you check them? Under/over inflated tyres cause excessive/uneven wear and can be dangerous. Check tread depth regularly and tyre pressures at least weekly or each time you refuel. This will give you early warning of problems such as slow punctures.

  4. Please check your vehicle regularly. We are stopping numerous vehicles due to defective lights. When stopped we will check the vehicle looking for any other defects, carry out relevant checks on driver and vehicle and require a breath test. Stay legal/stay safe. .

  8. carried out a speed check earlier today on the A1 near Haddington, East Lothian. Driver detected driving at 101mph within a national speed limit section. Driver reported to the Procurator Fiscal.

  9. Damp roads following heavy rainfall can often be as hazardous as driving on ice due to all the road grime being brought to the surface. Make sure that you drive to conditions. This driver lost control on such a road and ended upside down. Luckily only minor injuries.

  10. Unfortunately, sometimes extreme measures have to be taken in order to keep people safe. This patrol vehicle was used in a controlled manner to stop a vehicle driven by someone threatening harm to themselves and others. No one was injured as a result of this incident.

  13. An unfortunate incident on the main Dundee to Aberdeen road, A-90 just north of Dundee a few days ago when we had a heavy snow fall. Due to the wet snow on the road this wagon jack knifed and hit central barrier. No one was injured and road closed for a short time for recovery.

    One male in custody to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Monday 3rd February after a vehicle was pursued by through Kemnay and surrounding areas. Driver arrested and charged for various road traffic offences including Dangerous Driving & Failing to Stop for Police.

  17. stopped this Fiat in the Dalkeith area this afternoon. The driver had no licence, no insurance and no MOT. Vehicle seized and driver reported to PF for all offences.

  18. carried out speed enforcement in the west of Edinburgh today. Driver was detected at 68mph in 50mph limit of the M9 junction 1 at Newbridge. Conditional offer issued. Another detected at 55mph in 40mph limit on the A8 near Gogar. Conditional offer issued.
