I’m very sad about ‘s passing. He was a wonderful mentor who supported me since his time as the youngest prof . He had so much generosity and kindness and often dropped proud pictures of his kids into his emails when they were little.

𝗔 𝗛𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗨𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘆 • 73 teams tested same hypothesis with same data • Outcomes varied widely • Each workflow unique • We attempt to explain outcomes from decisions, but no easy answer

Fig. 1 Substantial variation in findings from 73 teams testing the same hypothesis with the same data
The distribution of estimated average marginal effects (AME) across all converged models (N = 1,253) includes results that are negative (yellow, and in the direction predicted by the given hypothesis the teams were testing), not different from zero (grey) or positive (blue), using a 95% confidence interval. AME are XY-standardized. Y-axis contains two breaks at +/-0.05. Numbers inside circles represent the percentage of the distribution of each outcome inversely weighted by the number of models per team. 3/n & turn this into practical guidance by pushing back against the often antagonistic tone of replication/reproducibility. Instead, they ask you to "Replicate Others as You Would Like to Be Replicated Yourself"
