Is there really a difference between their views of what the world’s really like? Or just a difference in how they define “Free Will”? Seems like that’s what most of these debates come down to, at least when both parties have the same basic metaphysical worldview.
-
You'll need to decide ;)

we 'PICK' decisions out of the box of our life--our life was not even chosen by us--name, place of birth, parents, physical traits, mental traits, spiritual traits--the obvious is that we have free choice--the not obvious at all is that we don't--the argu we don't is profound
-
We don’t need sennet to tell us we have no free will, our brains are first programmed by the Selfish Gene & artificially by the brain malware of all our authoritarianism societies infecting propaganda into every educational organisation & funding clergy by every government.

btw, even un or anti science religious people are forced to accept NO FREE WILL as god knows all , before, during and after--do we choose that which is not part of god's plan?

How does this differ from their extended debate on Aeon? Is this just publishing that debate in book form?
-
No. It’s a full book-length debate that builds on the Aeon exchange and goes much further.
