OK, we're going to try something: I hate deleting tweets, but dishonest people refuse to look up the context. So if you search for "I'm putting down my marker", you'll find this. Where I say "I was wrong and here is why" Here's the original bad tweet.

"No I'm not a racist, I really just mean the white people who catch it are idiots" No you don't. You really mean "everyone who isn't in my social group is an idiot". When someone in *your* social group catches it, it is everyone else's fault, never yours.

just a reminder that when you say "Americans can't control the virus b/c they are idiots who can't follow instructions" you're calling poor black and Hispanic Americans idiots You don't realize it's racist b/c you are not smart enough to realize who you are calling an idiot

It remains to be seen how much the lockdowns impact the spread of the virus because it remains to be seen how the citizens respond to these restrictions This is, I think, largely a cultural issue and as such it is neither "good" nor "bad". Different cultures are different.

Most impacted countries in Europe are re-enacting some kinds of restrictions, but it is important to note that none (that I know of) are cancelling school

deaths in Europe aren't nearly as high as they were in the initial wave, however all the normal caveats about COVID statistics apply

There are a few countries in which COVID positives are absolutely off the charts, but for the most part we're looking at countries that are getting hit about badly as our summer states Some countries are better than others but most really are seeing a substantial second outbreak

Travel restriction policies around COVID are very odd The main reason to restrict travel is if your region *doesn't* have it but another region has a *lot* of it When both regions have a lot of it, it seems like the policy is just running on autopilot without any purpose

I would end up between The New Standard and The Populist. I would be telling The New Standard that no one gives a shit about their lofty ideals but telling The Populist that all their policy ideas are dumb and unworkable.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a good overview of the policies and mitigations around COIVD taken by various EU countries?

After 2 weeks of multiple health screens and asking everyone to quarantine, I surprised my closest inner circle with a trip to a private island where we could pretend things were normal just for a brief moment in time

A LinkedIn recruiter pinged me today "hey, looks like your company is about to lay off a bunch of people! Need a job?" This is not an effective pitch unless your goal is to drive people to self-harm
