A private equity company just bought the rights to the entire .ORG domain registry.
Oh, and @ICANN removed price caps, too.
If your nonprofit owns a .org domain, go extend your registration out to the maximum 10 years before prices skyrocket.https://www.theregister.co.uk/2019/11/20/org_registry_sale_shambles/ …

Thanks for posting this,
@ossia! It's not really a private equity firm though, it is a two person shell company whose only asset will be .org. They don't deserve that veneer of legitimacy.#savedotorg1 reply 7 proslijeđenih tweetova 41 korisnik označava da mu se sviđa -

I wrote a bit more about my understanding here; feedback welcome from those who lived through this.http://blogs.harvard.edu/sj/2019/11/23/a-tale-of-icann-and-regulatory-capture/ …

It's a little hard to follow all the people involved (musical chairs, very apt heading!). For example, Beckstrom is mentioned only once and by last name -- who is that and what role were they in? Namecheap reaction is a little hard to parse, is the company "it" and ICANN "they"?
