.@aF9q @polemitis indeed, which is why it should not have been described as "aid to Greece". Bailouts are for creditors, not debtors.

@Alea_ @aF9q @polemitis No. Think it through. Bailouts and concessions on interest rates are aid to creditors, not debtors.

@Frances_Coppola @aF9q @polemitis I would say aid to both creditors and debtors

@Alea_ @aF9q @polemitis no, just creditors. I had a look at this a while ago. Default is always the better option for the debtor.

@Frances_Coppola @aF9q @polemitis Also most of Greece debt is not under greek law, could spent years in court before they can borrow again

@Alea_ @aF9q @polemitis history shows that markets have short memories. They would be able to borrow again.

@polemitis Where by 'lenders' we mean 'huge German investment banks'. Econtalk February 2013 is a great re-listen.

That message needs to be explained through German popular media. "Bailout" country taxpayers rescued European banks. @BILD @polemitis

@polemitis @Frances_Coppola A MORE HONEST POLICY . . . but that would not meet ideological functional requirements.
