True fact: there is not a single proven case to date of discrimination by machine learning algorithms.

Is that kind of nitpicky disentanglement even possible to prove and prosecute successfully in our legal system?

My critique of the claim’s meaningfulness stands. I don’t know that means. ML algorithms rely on data to function. No, SVMs aren’t sexist.

But the additional qualifications are helpful in understanding what you probably intended to say.

So 1. You're divorcing the algorithms from their applications, so that even if there is proven discrimination the blame won't land on algo..
-
2. You're establishing domain for algo evaluation in court of law. So even algos with biases/prédispositions.. it won't be in "court"

Algorithms can't be tried in court. No algorithm is racist or sexist in design, it is always a fxn of data or implementation. You know this.

I'm sorry, but you are TOO smart of an individual to really mean something so...elementary...in it's flaws.

Only legal persons can be held liable for discrimination. So fact that only they have doesn't say much. What're you trying to say exactly?

From a legal standpoint, last tweet is equivalent to "no dogs have been found liable for bites, only their owners." So i don't get the pt

You mean like proving that logistic regression hates Jews or something? That seems like a straw man. Of course it's data & people using it.
