Though Russian propaganda didn't impact the '16 election, that intended for such exerted outsized effects on later US politics. Many leftists & AntiTrumpists were infected with conspiracy theories that convinced them their opponents were traitors & stooges, worsening polarization
1) The paper explicitly says that it's not addressing that question
2) The paper takes an absurdly narrow look at one particular vector of influence using very crude measures of impact,
rules out a hypothesis no one credible was pushing,
& went chasing headlines

I appreciate the thesis proposal and academic approach. Some “journalists” should be held to this standard
This position is absurd. It is obvious they had an influence, the question is to what degree.
