As an alumnus of @uwcse, I find it incredibly offensive that an emeritus professor of the department makes such misogynistic and insulting statements.
Emeritus is supposed to be an honorary title, but I see no honor in his statements.

It's not an estimate, it's an opinion, and it's one drawn from flawed logic. You're assuming that the men are 'more qualified,' without data. You might lean into standard distribution, but that assumes the axes of that distribution are equivalent across gender (1/)

And while this is anecdotal, having spent 30+ years in tech, much of that in hiring committees, there's one clear signal I've seen: Women who apply for a position at Level L are more likely to be qualified at L++. Almost every resume I've read reflects that. (2/)
