You should probably start by giving your definition of qualified. At my department, basically the only qualification is a Ph.D.
Best for the job in every respect. It's definitely not just a matter of having a PhD.

‘Best’ is subjective. What do you mean by it? Because I will tell you that there are many women who are uniquely qualified and poised to succeed with more impressive credentials than our male counterparts BECUASE of your toxic behaviors! We always prevail!

But DEI supporters claim that being from some group makes you better b/c it increases visibility of that group etc. So estimate depends on your own views. Isn’t a better question: what % of men/women would have gotten their job were their gender reversed but all else kept same?
