Comeuppance doesn’t justify such bias, but women have been on the barrel end of this stuff for most of history. And for what it’s worth, my wife has sat on perhaps ten academic search committees over the years. Not once did she observe or practice bias against male candidates.

And there’s never been any sexism toward female candidates? That strains credibility given the sorry history of misogyny in the academy.

I once was a conference where an nvidia employee said she will always hire 50% female 50% male no matter how imbalanced the application pool is. I'm no statistician but I would reason that's some sort of bias.
