What if there aren't enough of the 'best' to go around? Just asking since it seems the tech industry has gotten more and more specific about skills they want in candidates. Which has made the interview cycles for recs longer and longer.

At the same time, it's controversial to even suggest that there is a massive shortage of high skilled workers in the US workforce. Short of magically summoning high skilled workers out of thin air, not sure how the current trends are sustainable.
