It's not. What you call "incontrovertible evidence" is a statement about measurement devices than the universe. Whether the universe is continuous or discrete is ill-posed and not exactly nswerable. Thinking of it as discrete does give a useful système du monde, but that is it.

It'd be useful to then share what you think is evidence. The digital physics/philosophy stuff is worthy of respect e.g. from Fredkin and others, but they themselves never make these claims. There's no evidence, no matter how appealing it sounds to a computer scientist.
