I genuinely don't get this take. Do you think all math was finished long ago and the only useful thing to do is compute numerically? I literally have no idea how computers can help us understand new stuff, while I of course love that they help us compute stuff we understand

Continuous math are the base of the gradient descent algorithm per example. However with clever math you can get the same results using Dual numbers operating over discrete rules.
