Looks like you've been studying some funny history books, where communism never existed and the US was deeply interested in Brazil.

In Brazil, communism have never been nothing more than a joke. And the US interests are proven by their own records. If they were not interested, they wouldn't have sent military support for the military coup in 1964.

The US was deeply interested in all Latin American countries. They supported some dictatorships in the name of avoiding communism. Maybe it was good to avoid communism, but it's clear that the focus wasn't spreading democracy but real politik.
