Am not agreeing at all that, at constant quality, US univ are cheaper. What numbers are you basing your claims on?

He criticizes the French system only because he could not excel in it. This is just human. Although extremely declining, the French education system is still a bit better than the US.

Most of your claims are just bold statements, would be interesting to sometimes back up these claims with data / references, although the twitter format is indeed not ideal for this

When I moved to the US (late 80s) being a scientist at Bell Labs or prof at a top school was better than being a scientist anywhere in Europe. It's still largely true. Today, the US is a nice country to be rich in. Europe is much better for the middle or working class....

...and social mobility is higher in the EU than in the US. Which means the EU is better at removing obstacles to success for talented people on average. But again, the US treats most of its scientists better than Europe.
