Where are the best universities in your opinion? If they're in the US, then they do get lots of government subsidies.
They're in the US, but they cost a lot more than they should, partly because of government subsidies. That's what I'm saying.

I think it would make sense to have a public taxpayer-funded university and private universities without any government subsides, so there can still be competition.
