Switzerland has 2 universities (ETH and EPFL) at the level of the US, they are basically free, paid for by taxes. Are we saying Switzerland is a socialist country?

And how the US pay for the army? I don’t think private citizens pay a subscription for the service of being protected. Reality tends to be more complex and nuanced than what a saying can capture

I agree that tuition in US is out of control, due to the positive feedback loop between student loans and increasing university costs (mainly spent on admin). But that it’s a problem specific to the US, there are countries able to raise taxes and spend wisely on education
