They also were in France, totally free, where professors were public employees. Pierre and Marie Curie, Paul Langevin were poor fellow, but the Curie refused to patent the processor extract radium because it was of general interest. At its best, education is free.

This is right. I actually mean state education financed by the citizens and where professors are moderately retributed. And same thing for the health system and the doctors. When it works, this is by far the best system.
