I’d argue Von Neumann was the most intelligent human of the 20th, but the greatest scientist? Not so. Einstein’s achievements in physics were literally era-defining. “Impact” is an abstract concept & difficult to argue given Von Neumann’s contributions, but Einstein was awesome.
Von Neumann's achievements in computer science and game theory were even more era-defining.
