Could I ask, why Laplace?
Invented both frequentist and Bayesian probability, made more contributions to mechanics than anyone but Newton, etc.

I used to think it was Rev. Thomas Bayes but a search showed me Laplace's formulations. And apparently he started working on his without the knowledge of what Thomas Bayes had done earlier.
