Reality check: no one has ever built a quantum computer with qubits lasting more than a tiny fraction of a second, and quite possibly they never will.

It was a multi-qubit system. “Coupling” implies a multi-qubit system. The experiment itself implemented a complete set of gates and several quantum algorithms. You’re currently in a physics argument with a bunch of physicists. You’ve brought a spoon to a gunfight.
