Paradoxically, people get more excited about things they understand less. (E.g.: deep learning, quantum computing, cryptocurrencies.)

Weird. Every person who understands AI I know, including myself, is excited about it while many that don't are scared. Aren't you excited about AI? Anecdotally, I'm not excited about crypto probably because I know little about it.
Of course I am. But the most excited people are ones who don't understand it very well.

Wrt AI in particular, the less informed tend to be more bipolar, and the media/Hollywood have fostered dystopian views. But my point still stands.
