IMHO this statement could mean that the major tasks of using DL on data like computer vision, text and speech are more or less solved from a practical point of view and the solutions are becoming a commodity. DL can do more. But most practitioners usually do this with DL.

Applying the current state of ML/DL to all the world's data will, however, probably produce spectacular and synergetic results for knowledge in all domains. That process has barely begun. It will be a huge project and industry.

For instance, how many interesting insights might the current set of best ML/DL programs extract from Project Gutenberg? From Wikipedia? From all social media considered as a collective dataset? Hardly a dull subject.
