Neither. Option 2 includes a very simple chess player. AI can have no reasonable definition in the context of engineering. The term is not helpful and usually misleads. We should completely drop it.
Nonsense. Chess requires intelligence. AI is the appropriate name for what the field does. Focus on the textbooks, not the hype.

The word intelligence is loaded; generally taken to entail human-level “general reasoning” (subjective). Do you mean playing chess *well* requires intelligence? If so, how well?

I’ll add that AI is an inappropriate name for any engineering field, is not what the field named AI does, and AI is not a proper field :)
