Home invasion vs. neighborly visit posits a similar problem. The difference is consent, the question is under which conditions consent needs to be explicit vs. can be assumed to be implied. The norms when it's considered to be implied did often change within a generation.

Not sure we are on the same page. Eg. whether people hug business acquaintances as a greeting does not depend on cosmic constants but eg on whether it's Bordeaux, Boston or San Francisco, and whether it's 1950, 1980 or 2020

Neither is "it didn't use to be a bad thing to do X" a valid criticism of anything.
