Depends on what study programs are subsidised.

But, but, but “do the right thing! Economics be dammed!! ”

It depends. If that IS the only thing gov did, the cost will go up. Cost of education needs to be brought down to a sensible level, but that doesn't mean subsidizing and forgiving student loan debt is a bad thing. Gov is not people. We can do a few things at the same time.

Cost: tuition, or operating costs? In the University of Alaska system, the state has been reducing funding and tuition costs have been rising as a result.
