Considering that random forests have many layers and beat deep learning in most applications, maybe we just need to rebrand them as deep forests and they'll be the next big thing.

Deep Learning has limitations for sure. However, you are really obsessed in perceiving Deep Learning as something much worse than what it really is. Let me put this way, Deep Learning is the worse solution for AI, excluding everything else.
